Kinnagoe Bay Inishowen sunrise landscape photo

“A sanctified stone congregation.”

– SJ Mannion

A serene sunrise landscape photo taken from the beautiful Kinnagoe Bay Inishowen during a trip to Donegal. It is located in a lovely secluded bay near Greencastle on the eastern side of the Inishowen peninsula in Ireland. This was one of my first photos taken that morning. I didn’t manage to get there before sunrise as I got a bit lost! I love this scene. The light was incredible. I managed to get the shot with the sun slightly hidden behind the clouds. This reduced the possibility of flair, which can be a problem with view cameras. The photo is composed of 2 sets of 7 photos, which are than stitched to form the panoramic photo. I find the photo very uplifting and almost biblical.

Keel Strand Achill Island

“The broken hours, all colours bleed into blue.”

– SJ Mannion

My last landscape photo of the day taken during a trip to Mayo and Achill island. This seascape photo is of Keel strand (also known as Trawmore Strand) The colour temperature dropped to a cold blu hue and the wet rocks glistened as the water rolled over them. In moments like this you really how beautiful the world really is.

Kinnagoe Bay Inishowen long exposure photo

“The stillness of all things – within eternal movement.”

– SJ Mannion

A long exposure photo of Kinnagoe Bay, located on the east coast of Inishown near Greencastle in Donegal. The black and white seascape photo of the rock formations is a long exposure of about 2 minutes. Made possible by adding a 10 stop ND filter in front of the lens. I really wanted to separate the jagged rocks from the still sea as much as possible to create a sense of calm

Keel Strand Achill Sunset Photo

“West of the west, the inheritance of days, the light beyond language. Our own place on earth.”

– SJ Mannion

A sunset photo of Keel strand on Achill island off Mayo, Ireland. The sunlight glistens on the water and the long exposure adds a dreamlike quality. Achill is the largest island off the Irish coast line. Keel strand (also known as Trawmore Strand) connects the village of Keel with Dookinelly and offers fantastic views of the famous Minuan Cliffs.

Kinnagoe Bay Donegal seascape photo

“A definition of rocks…”

– SJ Mannion

I visited the beautiful Kinnagoe bay on a trip to Donegal. It is located on the east coast of Inishowen near Greencastle. I spent the day photographing long exposures of the still sea. The volcanic rock formations scattered around the beach complimented the stillness of the sea perfectly. I spotted this rock early on in the day but I waited untill later to photograph it, once the tide had come in. The exposure was about 7 minutes long.

Kinnagoe Bay photo Donegal

“An elemental trinity.”

– SJ Mannion

I came across the beautiful Kinnagoe beach during a trip to Donegal. It is located in a secluded bay near Greencastle on the east of the Inishowen peninsula in Donegal, Ireland. It is not the easiest place in the world to find so arrived before sunrise to get a sunrise photo. I love the jagged forms of the rocks I felt their sculptural formations would yield some great images.

Industrial Fine Art Photo

“Of matter and men – in musty palette.”

– SJ Mannion

An Industrial Photo of a control panel of some kind. I find old machinery fascinating. I have no idea what it is or what it does. It felt a science Fiction Movie Set. The movie fan in me loves these places. It offers great opportunities for fine art photos.

Kinbane Castle photo Antrim

“Hewn of and on this wondrous writhing land.”

– SJ Mannion

A panoramic fine art photo of Kinbane Castle in County Antrim, Northern Ireland just after sunset. The small castle is a heritage site located on a long, narrow limestone headland projecting into the sea, which is approximately 5 km from Ballycastle on the road to Ballintoy. It’s an amazing location and I was blessed with lovely light that evening. The Antrim coast is full of locations of immense beauty and this is certainly one of them.

Industrial Architecture Photography

“Practical intricacy.”

– SJ Mannion

Industrial Architecture Photography was perfect for this wonderful location. It is a functioning animal feed plant. The first time I happened upon the place, all the equipment was operating. Everything vibrated, including the floor. He kindly let me in a number of times at the weekend to photograph the fabulous spaces when the equipment was turned off. It looked like a movie set. The owner was a real gentleman. Although slightly bemused I think!
