Killary Harbour (An Caoláire Rua in Irish), located in Leenane, Connemara, County Galway, is Ireland's only fjord. It forms a partial border between counties Galway and Mayo. The nine mile long inlet boasts some of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland. The beautiful village of Leenane is snugly situated at the head of Killary Harbour. The roads from Maam, Clifden, and Westport meet at this point. The Mweelrea mountains are to the north, and Maumturk Mountains are to the south side of the harbour.
