About this image
This landscape photo is one of a set of fine art landscapes, taken on Black Head in the Burren, County Clare, Ireland.
It was taken moments before sunset with the Atlantic Ocean visible in the background. It was a lovely day but the light was extremely hazy. During the hours before sunset, the sky began to clear to reveal a wonderful soft golden colour. I love the way the horizon is just visible to reveal the ocean below. The landscape of the Burren plateau is famous for it’s limestone pavements (large expanses of bare limestone). The rock surface is constantly being dissolved and cut into a few square meters blocks by acidic rain water
.The limestone pavements together with kilometers of ancient stone walls form very unique, almost lunar landscape.
